About

Welcome to Journey Down a Moonlit Path!

I’m Mary Wake, your guide down the path. I am a poet, philosopher, artist, and steward of the land. My life has been much like a journey by moonlight. The light isn’t always good, and I’ve gotten lost a few times. Yet the more I try to live in harmony with the rhythms of nature, the more I grow accustomed to the light. I have discovered that I have the gift of helping my fellow travellers through this world find their way again and take courage to continue the journey.

I am also a woman of deep faith in God. Although I do not intend this as a religious blog, I see the light of God reflected off the whole created universe like the light of the sun off the face of the moon. Like the Prophet Jeramiah, whenever I say, “I will not mention him, or speak anymore in his name, there is in my heart as it were a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I am weary with holding it in, and I cannot.” At times I will delve into matters of faith. I invite folks of all points of view to read, enjoy, and engage in respectful dialogue.

My purpose with this blog is two-fold. First is to use images, metaphors, and insights drawn from contact with the natural world to inspire and encourage others in their journey to a fulfilling, creative life. The second is to give practical advice and knowledge about living in tune with nature. Posts of the first type are every other Tuesday. Posts of the second type are every other Thursday.

Food for thoughts

O let them be left, wilderness and wet; Long live the weeds and the wilderness yet.

Gerard Manley Hopkins

Above all shadows rides the Sun, And Stars forever dwell: I will not say the Day is done, Nor bid the Stars farewell.

J. R. R. Tolkien

And God saw everything that he had made, and behold, it was very good.

Genesis 1:31

Let’s build something together.
